The Witch’s Runes (FREE)

The Witch’s Runes

The Witch’s Runes — alternatively spelled Witches or Witches’ — like many occult creations, have a past shrouded in mystery. Much has been written and romanticized about their origin, having allegedly been born in ancient civilizations, from such far-flung realms as the Orient, Egypt, or the British Isles, or handed to humankind directly from the glowing hands of ancient aliens. As an author prone to penning bombastic narratives myself, I can appreciate these tales. I also understand how certain people find power in things believed to be antediluvian and traditional. One can certainly argue that the oracular art of sortilege, the throwing of items such as sticks or stones or bones to tell fortunes, is indeed an ancient practice, and the Witch’s Runes are an extension of that tradition. However, there is no more than hearsay to suggest that the Witch’s Runes are more than a modern invention arising from the growth of witchcraft in the latter part of the twentieth century.
